That is the whole of the definition, and it is worth saying plainly because the term is used for two products that have almost nothing in common. The other takes a question and refuses to answer it, asking instead what the student already knows, what they have tried, and what they think the next step should be. Both are marketed with the same three words. Only the second one is doing the job a tutor does. The distinction matters more for a child of primary age than for anybody else, because a nine-year-old has not yet formed a view about what learning is supposed to feel like. A teacher who has watched a particular child work for six months holds information no software has. Nothing here replaces that, and no reasonable claim can be made about what a child’s marks will do. What can be said is narrower and more useful: a student who has to justify each step out loud tends to find out sooner where their understanding runs out, and so do you.
Safety and supervision
A child of primary age should not be working with any AI system alone.
